Overview

This qualification provides the basic skills and knowledge to become an animal carer. You’ll learn to care for a range of animals, provide food and water, and follow workplace safety procedures. Through hands-on training, you’ll work with animals such as poultry, sheep, goats, reptiles, fish, dogs, and cats, preparing you for entry-level roles in the animal care industry. Students may attain qualification upon satisfactory completion of all units.

VPC: Each completed 90-hour block of VET equals one VPC credit.

VCE/VCE VM: Recognition of up to four VCE VET units at Units 1&2 level, and a VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequence.

ATAR: Students will be eligible for a 10% increment.

VASS: VE1

Course Details

Delivery Mode: Face to face onsite at the Host school(s).
Assessment Methods: Written, Practical Tasks, Observations and  Project/Portfolio.

Structured Workplace Learning

It is strongly recommended that students undertake a minimum 80 hours of work placement.

Prerequisites: No prerequisites required.
