Overview

This course is ideal if you like working with people. You will be taught across a variety of work skill areas relevant to work within the community services industry. You will learn about community services relating to case management, advocacy and coordinating group activities. Your learning will involve role plays, simulations, project work, incursions and excursions. This course is delivered as a partial completion of the qualification. Students who successfully complete the units offered will receive a Statement of Attainment for those units.’ Added to the end of the current course overview.

Credits

VPC: Each completed 90-hour block of VET equals one VPC credit.

VCE / VCE VM: Recognition of up to two VCE VET units at Units 1 & 2 level, and two VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequences. Note: Students are strongly advised against undertaking the scored Unit 3–4 sequence without first completing Units 1 & 2 because Unit 3–4 sequences are not designed for standalone study.

ATAR: Scored assessment is available for this course.

VASS: VE1

Course Details

Delivery Mode: Face to face onsite at the Host school(s).
Assessment Methods: Direct observation, written and oral assessment, projects, portfolios of evidence, case studies, and simulated workplace tasks.

  • CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  • CHCECE013 Support the holistic development of children in early childhood (Note: This specific core can vary if the stream is aged care or disability focused, but is a common core for the general certificate).
  • CHCHCS001 Provide personal care support
  • CHCPRP001 Develop and maintain networks and collaborative partnerships
  • HLTWHS002 Assist with compliant health and safety practices
Structured Workplace Learning

It is strongly recommended that students undertake a minimum of 80 hours of work placement.

Prerequisites: No prerequisites required.
