Overview

The course provides technical and performance skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to establish a career in the entertainment industry. This course is not recommended for students without prior dance experience. Each host school delivers two dance electives (e.g. jazz, contemporary, ballet, street, cultural). Please check with the host school to confirm the dance electives prior to enrolment. Students may be eligible to achieve the Certificate II in Dance upon successful completion of all required units. This course also contributes towards the Certificate III in Dance; students who complete the units offered will receive a Statement of Attainment.

VPC: Each completed 90-hour block of VET equals one VPC credit.

VCE / VCE VM: Recognition of up to five VCE VET units at Units 1 & 2 level, and two VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequences. Note: Students are advised against undertaking the Unit 3–4 sequence without first completing CUAWHS111 Follow safe dance practices and CUAWHS211 Develop a basic level of physical fitness for dance performances.

ATAR: Scored assessment is available for this course.

Structured Workplace Learning

It is strongly recommended that students undertake a minimum 80 hours of work placement.

Prerequisites: To enrol in CUA30120 Certificate III in Dance at the Northern College of the Arts & Technology, students must successfully complete an audition demonstrating foundational dance skills.
