Overview

This course provides students with the opportunity to support the implementation of an approved learning framework and support children’s wellbeing, learning and development. Students will learn essential skills in areas such as how to communicate with children, support play and learning and basic development needs, provide food and basic health services including first aid, and work health and safety processes. This course is delivered as a partial completion of the qualification. Students who successfully complete the units offered will receive a Statement of Attainment for those units.

VPC: Each completed 90-hour block of VET equals one VPC credit.

VCE / VCE VM: Recognition of up to two VCE VET units at Units 1 & 2 level, and two VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequences.

ATAR: Students will be eligible for a 10% increment.

VASS: VE1

Course Details

Delivery Mode: Face to face onsite at the Host school(s).
Assessment Methods: Observation and Written/Oral Questioning.

  • CHCECE033 Develop positive and respectful relationships with children
Structured Workplace Learning

A minimum of 160 hours of work placement is required to successfully complete this course. St Helena Secondary College provides opportunities during the year for students to engage in meaningful, hands-on activities at an Early Learning Childcare Centre.

Students need to apply for a Volunteer Working With Children Check prior to commencing work placement.

Prerequisites: No prerequisites required.
