Overview

This program is an introduction to vocational training and will provide participants with the basic knowledge and skill development to enhance their employment prospects in the hairdressing industry as an apprentice. This is a one-year course. Students may attain qualification upon satisfactory completion of all units.

VPC: Each completed 90-hour block of VET equals one VPC credit.

VCE / VCE VM: Recognition of up to four VCE VET units at Units 1 & 2 level.

ATAR: No contribution is available.

VASS: VE1

Course Details

Delivery Mode: Face to face onsite at the Host school(s).

  • SHBHBAS001 Provide shampoo and basin services
  • SHBHDES001 Dry hair to shape
  • SHBHIND001 Maintain tool and equipment cleanliness
  • SHBXCCS001 Conduct salon financial transactions
  • SHBXCCS003 Greet and prepare clients for salon services
  • SHBXIND001 Comply with organizational REQUIREMENTS: within a personal services environment
  • SHBXIND002 Communicate as part of a salon team
  • SHBXWHS001 Apply safe working practices
Structured Workplace Learning

It is strongly recommended that students undertake a minimum 80 hours of work placement.

Prerequisites: No prerequisites required.

With additional training and experience, possible future career pathways may include work in the following areas/sectors:

  • Hairdresser

  • Retail Sales

  • Salon Manager
