Overview

The aim of the program is to provide specific skills and knowledge to work in the areas of sport and recreation. Leadership, organisational and specialist activity skills will be developed through theory and practical sessions. Students may attain qualification upon satisfactory completion of all units.

VPC: Each completed 90-hour block of VET equals one VPC credit.

VCE / VCE VM: Recognition of up to three VCE VET units at Units 1 & 2 level, and a VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequence. Note: Students are strongly advised against undertaking the scored Unit 3–4 sequence without first completing Units 1 & 2 because Unit 3–4 sequences are not designed for standalone study.

ATAR: Scored assessment is available for this course. Peter Lalor Secondary College does not offer a scored assessment option.

VASS: VE1

Course Details

Delivery Mode: Face to face onsite at the Host school(s).
Assessment Methods: Written, Practical Tasks, Observations, Project, Simulations and Group Work.

Core Units of Competency:

  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  • BSBPEF301 Organise personal work priorities and development
  • SISXCAI009 Instruct exercise to older clients
  • SISXIND009 Respond to interpersonal conflict
  • SISXWHS002 Facilitate workplace health and safety

Use of External Providers: First Aid training (HLTAID011 Provide First Aid) for students enrolled at Northern College of the Arts & technology is delivered on-site by 1 SDO Training Pty Ltd (RTO 41558).

Structured Workplace Learning

It is strongly recommended that students undertake a minimum 80 hours of work placement.

Prerequisites: No prerequisites required.

  • Outdoor Education Instructor
