Overview

This course provides students with the skills and knowledge to undertake roles as make-up artists, designing and applying make-up across the beauty, fashion, media and entertainment industries. Skills are developed for work in make-up studios, retail cosmetic counters, fashion and media sets, and photography studios. Students may attain qualification upon satisfactory completion of all units.

VPC: Each completed 90-hour block of VET equals one VPC credit.

VCE / VCE VM: Recognition of up to two VCE VET units at Units 1 & 2 level, and two VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequences.

ATAR: Students will be eligible for a 10% increment.

VASS: VE1

Course Details

Delivery Mode: Face to face onsite at the Host school(s).

  • SHBBMUP010 Design and apply make-up for photography
  • SHBBMUP011 Design and apply remedial camouflage make-up
  • SHBXIND003 Comply with organizational within a personal services environment
  • SHBXWHS003 Apply safe working practices
Structured Workplace Learning

It is strongly recommended that students undertake a minimum 80 hours of work placement.

Prerequisites: No prerequisites required.

Career Pathways

With additional training and experience, possible future career pathways may include work in the following areas/sectors:

  • Make-Up Artist (Fashion, Beauty, Photography and Freelance)

  • Make-Up Consultant (Department Store or Pharmacy)

  • Beauty Therapist

  • Cosmetic or Beauty Equipment Sales Representative
