Overview

The Tradie Taster and Women in Trades courses are designed to give Year 10 students a valuable introduction to a range of trade-based learning experiences. With a strong emphasis on practical, hands-on activities, this course aims to prepare students to make informed and confident decisions about pursuing a VET pathway in Years 11 and 12.

Many students enter vocational streams with limited understanding of the trades they select. This course addresses that gap by offering students the opportunity to explore multiple trade areas in a supportive, introductory environment. Through a combination of practical projects and theoretical learning, students gain insight into the skills, expectations, and pathways within various trades. In addition, students begin developing job-readiness skills that will support them in future work placements and employment settings.

Credits

VPC: Each completed 90-hour block of VET equals one VPC credit.

VCE / VCE VM: On completion, students will be eligible for credit at VCE Units 1 & 2 level.

ATAR: No contribution is available.

VASS: VE1

Structured Workplace Learning

It is strongly recommended that students undertake a minimum 80 hours of work placement.

Prerequisites: There are no specific Prerequisites for this qualification.
